The Giver Gives to Give

Logline: A lonesome clown in search of means, understanding and unconditional love joins the circus only to find themselves more lost than ever.

The Giver Gives to Give is a black & white silent film experiment shot on 16mm. With an All-Star cast of musicians and an original score by SASAMI, this film is a pure exploration of human potential rooted in noise and Rock N’ Roll.

Directed by Angela Ricciardi and Silken Weinberg. Currently premiering and screening at select venues.

Logline: Make tax compliance feel relaxing, not taxing. Automate your sales tax and say, "Avalarahhhhhhhhhhh."

Two television spots (“Relax” and “Ahhh”) made for tax compliance company Avalara. As assistant editor, I was responsible for organizing footage, sitting in on editing sessions, posting exports for clients to view, and editing cutdowns of longer spots. The commercials were edited by editors David Brodie and Damion Clayton at Rock Paper Scissors Editorial.

Logline: "Blackalachia" is Moses Sumney's feature-length directorial debut. Shot over two days in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, the performance film features songs from Sumney’s albums græ and Aromanticism.

Locust Lane

My senior thesis film as part of my undergraduate studies at Syracuse University.

Logline: A college student studying entomology named Max recounts the events of a series of weekends that occurred sometime in the late 1990s, in which he becomes best friends with a boy named Arthur. As Max and Arthur gather both true and fictitious information about Arthur’s neighborhood, they begin to dream up fantastical stories and fictional biographies of the eccentric people who live on Arthur’s street, a mysterious place called Locust Lane.

Awards and Accolades: An Official Selection at the 2020 Pittsburgh Independent Film Festival, 2019 Shortie Film Festival and the 2019 Take It Easy Film Festival (Best Dramedy Nominee).

Oui Jouie

Logline: Oui Jouie is a short narrative film exploring the relationship between a girl and her mother as she discovers her own body through sexuality. We follow the main character, Oriane, as she unlearns self-sexualization as a young woman and learns about her sexuality through self pleasure. This film addresses the miseducation around female self pleasure and the taboo of sex in the United States.

Logline: Two junk-thieves discover a glowing amber sphere deep in the forest. When a deal to sell the object to a paranoid scientist goes awry, the men keep it for themselves; hiding the sphere away in their warehouse and slowly giving over to its hypnotic influence.

I Remember Ashes (Vzpomínám Na Popel)

2018 • Narrative Short Film (Drama) • Editor, Assistant Director, and Co-Sound Designer • 9 minutes

Logline: Set sometime in the late 1960s, I Remember Ashes” is the story of a young brother named Oliver and his older sister Sally who spend their summer days at their special hangout spot in the hills of the Czech Republic. Their relationship and personal ideals are tested when the two of them are forced to remedy a morbid situation. The film acts as a distant memory, an upended fairytale exploring Sally and Oliver’s introduction to mortality.

The surreal state of childhood perception is evoked in this beautifully captured 35mm portrait of a mischievous duo running amok in the Czech countryside.” - Edinburgh International Film Festival

A 35mm short film made while studying abroad at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) in Prague, Czech Republic through Syracuse University and CET's study abroad program. Made with an emphasis of little to no dialogue.

Along with handling most of the post-production workflow and Assistant Directing the film, I helped develop the film's story, visual strategy, and pre-production contents over the course of four months. A collaboration between Graham Turner (Director), Scott Sweitzer (Cinematographer), and Oriane Playner (Executive Producer and Art Director).

 

Ghost Town

Logline: Jack and his grandfather Walter decide to go trick or treating on Halloween, but Jack has other plans...

Shot over the course of four days in Barry Park and downtown Syracuse. A collaboration between Co-Director Corey Palmer, and storyboard artist Bertram Oberlander.

The Video Nasty

A short faux movie trailer parodying the concept of the “Video Nasty”: "a colloquial term in the United Kingdom to refer to refer to a number of films distributed on video cassette that were criticized for their violent content by the press, social commentators and various religious organizations." A project by director and writer Peter Hartsock.

 

Fork In The Road

Logline: Mason, a young freshman college student visiting home on Spring Break, makes a mischievous decision one night that changes his life and his small suburban community forever.

The final film of my sophomore year at Syracuse University made with Henry Liddy (Director and Cinematographer).

DESCENT

Logline: Falling: What it is, why it's important, and how it can be dealt with in the times when it leaves one completely hopeless.

Awards and Accolades: Won 2nd Place at the 1st Annual Delta Kappa Alpha Syracuse Student Film Fest in the Experimental category

An independently made experimental film from my second year at Syracuse University. A mixed media piece using footage from an Apple iPod Touch and royalty free stock footage.

 

Skateboarding: An Olympic Sport

2016 • Short Documentary • Co-Director and Co-Editor • 6 minutes

A mini-documentary made in my second year at Syracuse University. The piece contrasts skateboarding culture with the high reputation of the Olympics, preceding the sport's inclusion into the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. A public survey of university students and local skateboarders, and a collaboration between Co-Director and Co-Editor Brooks Sproul.

Ryan Cubed

Logline: A troubled young man named Ryan is visited by his future self. What ensues is a bizarre attempt by Future Ryan to comfort Present Ryan in his time of need and, in turn, change his life for the better.

My final film of freshman year at Syracuse University. Made in collaboration with Perry Green.

 

"If I Only Had A Match": A Tarantino Supercut

Supercut project made for a freshman year class at Syracuse University, in which we were supposed to put together a mashup to convey a bigger theme. The video uses numerous clips of characters from Quentin Tarantino's films smoking cigarettes. I found it ironic that these main characters (who could withstand hoards of enemies) were basically killing themselves from the inside by smoking cigarettes.

Gizmo

Logline: A boy living alone on an abandoned farm finds a mysterious map and a shiny alluding trinket while farming. An adventure ensues as the boy tries to find the importance of the alluding objects he has found.

Awards and Accolades: Highest Honor Award at the Upper St. Clair High School's 2015 Fine Art Awards.

My first short film. Made my junior year of high school in preparation for college portfolio applications.
